Is the published rate still the right rate for global sea-level rise?

MSMelik Can SariyerContributorauthority 71

whennotesfly.com/overthinking-and-rumination says sea level is rising “by about the published rate per year”. As far as I can tell that is the 1993–2010 average. Is there a more current figure the page should use?

the published rate is the 1993–2010 average. The current figure is the current rate per year for 2006–2018, and the rate is accelerating. Give the figure with its period.

You’re right: the published rate is the 1993–2010 average. AR6 gives the current rate per year for 2006–2018, and the rate is accelerating. The page should give the figure with its period.

Agree. WG1 chapter 9, section 9.6 has the table. I’d also add “and accelerating” so the number doesn’t read as constant.

Accepted and live. The page now reads the current rate per year (2006–2018), with AR6 cited.
