How a reviewer is matched

Four filters run before anyone is offered your manuscript.

Field

Only reviewers who listed your subject area. Availability does not make someone an expert in a field they do not work in.

Language

A hard filter, not a preference. A review the author cannot read is worthless to them.

No conflict

Never the same institution, ORCID or email domain as the author.

Capacity

Only reviewers inside their own declared limit, with nothing overdue.

  • Email addresses or any contact details

  • The content of any review they have written
  • Which manuscripts they have been sent
