Terms of Service

1.1You must provide accurate information when creating an account, and keep your credentials secure. Contributor, reviewer, author and publisher accounts are separate; you may hold more than one.

Be who you say you are. Separate accounts keep you from ever reviewing your own work.

1.2You may not create accounts to inflate scores, review your own work, or act on behalf of another person without their authority.

No sock-puppets, no self-review.

2.1You retain ownership of what you write. By submitting a contribution you grant the publisher of the page a licence to use it on that page, and CitePep a licence to display it in the public record.

Your work stays yours; the publisher can use it on their page.

2.2A contribution is recorded only if the publisher accepts it. Declined contributions are kept for integrity purposes and are never published.

Only accepted work appears. Declined work is private.

3.1Publishers may add only pages on domains they have verified. Publishers decide which contributions to accept; CitePep does not edit publisher pages.

You control your pages. We never change them.

3.2A publisher may remove the attribution block from a page at any time. The historical record of accepted contributions remains public.

You can stop displaying it; history stays on record.

4.1Each reviewer sets their own fee. The fee shown when a reviewer accepts is the fee charged, and does not change.

The price you see when they accept is what you pay.

4.2Reviewers are paid per completed review, regardless of its conclusions. A review is not a guarantee of acceptance by any journal.

Paying doesn’t buy a verdict or an acceptance.

4.3Reports are confidential to the author. CitePep is not a journal and does not referee for journals.

Only you see your review.

5.1If no reviewer accepts within the invitation period, any held payment is released in full. If a review is not delivered by the agreed date, the author may cancel for a full refund.

No reviewer, or late delivery? Full refund.

6.1You may not submit false corrections, fabricate sources, harass other users, or attempt to manipulate reputation scores. We may suspend accounts that do.

Honest work only. Manipulation leads to suspension.

7.1CitePep records who contributed to content; it does not warrant that any page is accurate. Publishers remain responsible for what they publish.

We record the work; publishers are responsible for their pages.

8.1We may update these terms. Material changes are announced at least 30 days in advance, and the revision history below records every version.

We’ll tell you 30 days before anything important changes.
