Why CitePep exists
Most pages on the web ship with no clear author and no record of who checked them. A page might be written by a developer, a small team, or someone who simply knows the subject. Readers have no way to tell whether it was reviewed by anyone who actually knows the topic. At the same time, the people who do have that expertise, the reviewers, editors, and subject-matter specialists who quietly keep information accurate, almost never get credited for that work and have nowhere to prove their track record.
CitePep closes that gap. It connects experts who want public credit with publishers who want their content checked and kept accurate, and turns every accepted contribution into a verifiable record. The result is a single question with a trustworthy answer: who stands behind this information?
What CitePep is
CitePep is a contributor identity network and reputation graph. It records typed contributions (authoring, reviewing, editing, correcting, and sourcing), ties each one to a real person and a specific page, and only counts work that a publisher actually accepted. From that history it builds a portable public profile for each contributor, with a contribution score, a trust score, and per-topic authority.
It is not a badge you buy and not a guest-posting marketplace. Reputation on CitePep can only be earned through accepted work, weighted by consistency over time. The rules behind it are public on our editorial standards page.
What we believe
- Credit should follow real work. The people who make content accurate deserve to be named for it.
- Trust must be verifiable. "Reviewed by an expert" means nothing without a name and a public history behind it.
- Reputation belongs to the person. Your contribution history is yours, and it should travel with you across every publisher you work with.
- Accuracy is ongoing. Keeping information true is not a one-time act of publishing; it is a continuous record of review and correction.
