Claiming pages you wrote
If you wrote pages before joining CitePep, you can claim them. Once the publisher confirms authorship, each page counts on your profile like any other accepted work. This guide walks through the process, the evidence that works, and what to do when things don’t go smoothly.
1Which pages you can claim
2How claiming works
- Paste the URLFrom your dashboard, choose "Claim a page" and paste the address.
- Add evidenceAttach or link what shows you wrote it: see below. Private evidence stays private.
- The publisher is askedIf the site is on CitePep, its editors are notified. Otherwise, we invite them.
- They confirm or declineMost decisions take a few days.
- It’s recorded"Authored by" is added to the page record, and the page joins your profile.
3Evidence that works
One strong piece of evidence is enough. Keep within any confidentiality agreement: a redacted email works well.
4What the publisher sees
The editor sees the page, your profile, and your evidence. They are asked one question: did this person write this page? They can confirm, decline, or ask you something.
5When a claim gets stuck
6Co-written and edited pages
Each author claims separately and each is credited as Authored. If you edited rather than wrote, propose the work as an edit: it’s credited as Edited, with its own (lower) weight.
7The rules
- Only claim work you actually wrote
- Declare any ongoing relationship with the publisher
- Claiming someone else’s work is a breach of the standards and can lead to suspension
