The reviewer shortage is a search problem as much as a supply problem. Editors spend weeks emailing people who never reply, largely because there is no way to see who is actually available in a niche before you ask.
What you can search
CitePep lets you search reviewers by field, by method, and by the language they can review in. Each result shows institution, country, completed reviews, on-time record and current availability.
Language is a filter rather than a detail. A journal publishing in Portuguese or Turkish needs reviewers who work in that language, and a pool that cannot be filtered that way is not useful.
How inviting works
You invite through CitePep and the reviewer decides. Contact details are never exposed in search results, which is what keeps the pool willing to be listed at all.
An invitation from a journal is an invitation into that journal’s own editorial process, on its own terms. CitePep is not part of it.
Where CitePep stops
CitePep does not referee for journals. We take no fee on an editorial decision, we are not in your accept or reject path, and a paid pre-submission review is never reported to a journal as refereeing.
That boundary exists because paid refereeing is treated as a conflict of interest across academic publishing, and a journal seen to outsource its refereeing would risk exactly the indexing it depends on. Keeping the two apart protects you, not us.

Your fields, scope and publication languages are what surface the right reviewers. A profile listing three fields and one language returns a far more useful pool than an empty one.

Do you supply referees for our peer review?
No. CitePep helps you find and invite reviewers into your own process. We never act as your referee, never receive your editorial decisions, and take no fee on them.
Can we see reviewers’ email addresses?
No. You invite through the platform and the reviewer chooses whether to respond. Exposing contact details would end the pool’s willingness to be listed.
Is indexing verified on journal profiles?
No. Indexing is self-declared by the journal and is shown as such. CitePep does not verify Scopus, PubMed or DOAJ listing and never presents it as verified.
