Resume Strategies for Securing Interviews

Resume Strategies for Securing Interviews

Edited by Javier Martinez Samblas · on When Notes Fly · 6 October 2026 · View published page ↗

Understand resume formatting, achievement quantification, and structure needed to pass ATS and impress hiring managers.

The exact change

Before
A resume is a marketing document, not a biographical record. Its only job is to make a compelling enough case that a hiring manager wants to spend 30-60 minutes talking to you.
After
Resumes have limited space. A concise bullet can describe an achievement, but a relevant work sample gives an employer something concrete to examine: a design, analysis, campaign, report, presentation, or project.

Why this is better

The original section only covered interview performance, with no mention of supporting a resume with actual work samples. The rewrite adds guidance on selecting, explaining and sharing concrete evidence, sourced to the US Office of Personnel Management's definition of a work-sample assessment.
